Trews FAQs

What styles do you do trousers in?

  • Standard - This style is worn with a regular belt and are cut like normal suit trousers. Standard trousers are very versatile informally, and also look great with a waistcoat for formal occasions.

  • Argyll - This style was originally designed to be worn with an Argyll / Crail kilt jacket and traditional kilt belt. This means that no waistcoat is required.

  • Fishtail - This style has a peaked back and are kept up by braces (no belt is needed). They are worn on formal occasions and as they come up high on the body they are perfect with a variety of kilt jackets and waistcoats. Braces are normally hidden by the waistcoat but a lot of people like to show off their braces.

What material?

We can make trousers in lightweight, mediumweight and heavyweight wool and also in machine washable Polyviscose. We buy cloth from a number of mills so sometimes the tartan choice will come down to the availability and price.

All made-to-order trousers are made in-house in our Slanj Trews factory in Glasgow.

What about alterations?

Slight alterations are possible and not usually charged when the trousers are made-to-order.

What about the fit?

Our two options for leg fit are slim fit and normal fit. Slim fit is not recommended if you have large thighs.

What price are they?

Our ready made trews start at £120 and our made-to-order trousers are from £140

Is it possible to alter the fit?

Yes, you just have to explain what you want to our staff. You can also do this on an online order by entering your instructions in the additional information section.

Can made-to-order trews be refunded?
